Northern Colorado Concert Band Conductor
Bert
Aguirre's passion for music began
before he could talk--beginning with playing
washboard to his grandfather's fiddle Many years
of musical study followed in both piano and a
wide variety of bands and choirs.
In 1999 he graduated with honors from the
University of Northern Colorado with a BA in
music education with piano as his primary
instrument of study. While at UNC, Mr. Aguirre
completed an undergraduate thesis entitled
The Effects of Musical Study: A Synthesis of the
Philosophy of Music with the Psychology of
Emotion and Intelligence. Afterwards he
taught music in the public schools for six
years. He discovered that his interests were too
diverse to devote all of his time to one art
form. So Bert began teaching English at
South Valley Middle School in Platteville ...
and conducting the Northern Colorado Concert
Band.
With all of this, along with his wife Lacy, and
his two children, Naomi and Asher, Bert Aguirre
has plenty to keep him busy. He is thrilled to
have all of the joys and challenges of music,
writing, teaching and, of course, fatherhood
before him.
